IIT / MIT grad, 33, Appointed Samsung Vice-President
Samsung Group appoints MIT-grad Pranav Mistry, 33, as Vice president (Global operation) of Samsung Electronics. He is the youngest among 122 newly appointed executives.
He joined Samsung as the Director of Research Unit in its Silicon Valley unit in 2012 and headed the Think-Tank Team. Earlier a researcher at MIT Media Labin 2009 he was selected as one of the world’s Most Influential 35 Young Scientists by MIT Technology Review.
India born Pranav, got his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Gujarat University and Master’s degree in Design at Industrial Design Center, IIT Mumbai. After working as a UX (User Experience) researcher at Microsoft, he completed his PhD at MIT Media Lab. The World Economic Forum (WEF) honored him as one of ‘the Young Global Leader 2013’.
He is credited pioneering work on upgrading smartwatch devices and developing 360-degree 3D virtual imaging camera, called ‘Project Beyond.’ Mistry is best known for his work – Sixsense - a wearable gestural interface device that he developed before he joined Samsung Electronics.
