‘Power of India’ – Sweeps Top U.S. Companies

The number of CEOs of Indian background is increasing in the global arena. Mr Satya Nadella has just joined the string of successful Indian-bred business leaders, by becoming the new chief executive of Microsoft. India is home to a number of chief executives at prestigious companies like Pepsi, Citi Group, McKinsey & Company etc. Analysts point out that the large, educated population with English proficiency gives India an edge in global competition. Reports by TV Chosun:

The presence of the people of Indian origin is getting stronger in global corporate world. Many CEOs of global companies were born and educated in India, including this Indian-bred businessman who was just announced today as the new chief of Microsoft. India is home to a large number of talent around the world. We may not be familiar with their accent, but Indian people have long enjoyed a reputation for their high proficiency in English, which was gained from the period of the British colonial rule. 

Commentator:

Microsoft just announced that Mr Satya Nadella was appointed as the new chief executive of the company on unanimous support. There is much expectation as well as speculation as to how he will cope with the challenges arisen from the era of Smartphones. 

Satya Nadella, New CEO of Microsoft: 

“Microsoft is building a world connected by data and the cloud, which will be mediated by software." 

Commentator: 

Bill Gates, the founder of the company is back after 5 years as a technology advisor. 

India is now the Asia’s talent factory that produces CEOs of global companies year after year. They include Indra Nooyi of Pepsi, Vikram Pandit of Citibank, Rajat Gupta of Mckinsey Consulting, to name a few. Indian-bred talent is present everywhere from - IT, Finance to Food and Aerospace. The number of Indian-origin CEOs in the IT sector is around 30 million. More than 30% of the start-up businesses in Silicon Valley are run by Indians. 

Strong capability in English and Maths as well as determination to overcome poverty and challenges posed by social class is fuelling Indian people’s success in global society.
