Tongmyong University to have exchanges with Indian Universities

Signifying the deepening of academic exchanges between India and Republic of Korea (Korea), Tongmyong University, in Busan (http://english.tu.ac.kr/default/main/main.jsp) signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) on educational exchanges, earlier this month, with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati and Amity University, as well as, a letter of engagement with Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Busan is the second largest city in Korea, after Seoul.

2.       The MOU envisages not only holding joint educational programs and exchanging faculty and students, but also, collaborating in educational projects, joint degree & employment support programs, as well as, university-industry projects.

3.       Education is one of the thrust areas of cooperation between India and Korea. Around 2500 Koreans (including 1500 schoolchildren) are studying English, IT and Management in India. Around 1000 Indian scholars are pursuing post-graduate and Ph.D programmes in Korea. A significant number of Indian and Korean universities have begun academic exchanges and established special Chairs. The India-ROK Joint Statement for Expansion of Strategic Partnership issued during the state visit to India of President Park Geun-hye in January 2014 seeks to expand cooperation in the education sector, including in the revival of the Nalanda University.
