For centuries, India has been the global centre for Education. The education system in India is well established, organized and covers a wide spectrum of disciplines.
School Education
India has the Third Largest English Speaking population in the world. Medium of instructions in higher education is primarily English. Also India offers Quality Education at a fraction of cost compared to other educational destinations. Hence India is becoming increasingly favoured destination for Korean parents to send their children for schooling.

Higher Education
India has a very strong University system, with over 310 universities and 15500 colleges offering the widest spectrum of courses, India is the second largest education system in the world. The professionals trained in Indian Institutions are recognized globally. Over 200 of the Fortune 500 companies recruit from Indian campuses regularly.

Choosing an Institute

  • Foreign students can also apply through Educational Consultants India Ltd. (Ed.CIL), a Government of India enterprise that facilitates admissions and is a one-stop window for foreign students. Ed.CIL www.edcil.co.in gives advice on suitable colleges and programmes after ascertaining the student's requirements.
Essential Criteria
  • For admission to all undergraduate courses, universities/institutes of higher education in India require candidates to be in possession of Higher Secondary/ GEC ‘A' level/any other examination equivalent to +2 stage of Indian qualification (12 years of schooling) with subjects related to their chosen area of study. However, for entry into diploma programmers, the qualification should comprise of 10 years of schooling.
  • Additional requirements, if any, are as per the course sought to be pursued.

Scholarships
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) awards two scholarships for regular courses of higher studies to candidates
from RoK.

1. The scholarship is awarded in almost all the disciplines of regular study and also for classical dance, music, fine arts, etc.
     in India.
2. Applications should be routed through Embassy of India, Seoul and not directly sent to ICCR.
3. The applicants are advised to go through the 'University Handbook' at the Embassy to choose a University and a course.
4. The applicant must be fluent in English.

6. The last date of receipt of applications is 15 February each year.
