Remarks On Together Day Ceremony Organized By Korea Immigration Service
May 20, 2010
Remarks by H.E. Mr. Skand R. Tayal,
Ambassador of India to the Republic of Korea,
at the Third Together Day Ceremony organized by
KoreaImmigration Service, Ministry of Justice,
on 20 May 2010
Hon’ble Prime Minister,
Commissioner Dong-hyeon Seok,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am deeply honoured to convey my congratulations on today’s “Together Day” ceremony. This day is a very powerful expression of the sentiments that all the human beings of the world are connected and must live and work together in a spirit of harmony and brotherhood.
India’s ancient scriptures have always believed in Vasudaiva Kutumbakam – a Sanskrit verse declaring that the inhabitants of the whole Earth belong to one family.
As the world is moving towards increasing globalization, there would be more movement of people across borders. The immigration services of all the countries have a very important role in facilitating the movement of students, tourists, workers and professionals from one country to another.
Organization of events like today’s would, I hope, lead the citizens of Korea away from any feeling of hostility towards foreigners to a feeling of tolerance. In course of time, this tolerance of people of different colours, races or religions would lead to acceptance and appreciation of their cultures. Together Day would nudge us all to think, to reflect and to broaden our attitudes towards all those who may not be like us.
I congratulate Korea Immigration Service for organizing this Together Day.
