A Parliamentary delegation from India led by Hon’ble Smt.Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker of Lok Sabha, began their official visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) today. The Hon’ble Speaker and the delegation met H.E. Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of the National Assembly of ROK, and other parliamentarians. Both sides exchanged views on the bilateral relations highlighting the warmth and friendship built continuously over the years. The delegation was later given a brief tour of the National Assembly of Korea, and an overview of their internal procedures including the electronic voting system. ROK’s Speaker Chung Sye-kyun later hosted the delegation to a reception at his official residence.    

In their meeting, Hon’ble Smt.Sumitra Mahajan mentioned Korea’s historical connection with India and said that the bilateral relationship was marked by immense goodwill. She highlighted that India’s growing human capital with strength in IT was a natural partner for ROK’s technology and manufacturing strength. Shipbuilding and infrastructure were underlined as key sectors for ROK’s participation in India’s growth. Both sides condemned terrorism and the Korean side expressed their utmost respect for India’s stand against terrorism, upholding peace and human rights.
